The Scioto County Health Department is offering one more Pfizer evening vaccine clinic for 16 and 17 year olds on Tuesday, March 30, 4:30 - 6:15pm, in the Scioto County Courthouse lobby. Dear Bobcat Parents of 16-17 Year Olds, I received this today from the Scioto County Health Department. Pfizer is the ONLY vaccine that is approved for 16 and 17 year olds. Please spread the word to your 16 and 17 year old students and their parents. Those interested in the vaccine must have an appointment (no walk-ins due to the limited supply). Their parents or legal guardians can register them for an appointment by calling our schedulers at 740-302-3801 or 740-302-8277. Please see the Scioto County Health Department Facebook page for details. 16/17 year olds must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to sign consent. They must be available to come back 3 weeks later (Tues pm 4/13) for their 2nd dose.

NOTICE-Dec. 4, 2020 Dear Bobcat Community, We want to inform you that an individual who has been physically present and around the Boys Basketball team within the last two weeks has tested positive for COVID-19. Per privacy guidelines, more specific information cannot be shared. Out of the abundance of caution, the gym will be closed until Dec. 7 and all boys’ basketball practices and events will be temporarily suspended while we continue to work with the Department of Health and conduct all necessary contact tracing. A separate communication will be provided to all District members deemed to have been in “close contact”, as defined by the state and CDC, with this individual. This is a fluid situation and the District will continue to take all necessary actions to minimize the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. The District is cleaning and disinfecting the areas identified pursuant to CDC guidelines. As an individual, please continue to use best efforts to reduce the risk of spreading the virus such as washing hands frequently for at least 20 seconds, using hand sanitizer, wearing masks, staying home when you are sick, and should you feel the urge to cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose. We urge you to monitor your own health and to immediately seek medical attention should you experience any COVID-19 symptoms. Symptoms of COVID-19 have been reported to be: fever, shortness of breath, cough, chills, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, chest pain, new confusion, and blush lips or face. Less common symptoms are: achiness, nasal congestion, sore throat, runny nose, and gastrointestinal symptoms. In the event you begin to experience COVID-19 symptoms, test positive for COVID-19, or have come in close contact with a confirmed positive case, contact your physician immediately for guidance. Thank you and stay safe. Jodi Armstrong

From the Scioto Foundation: Since the Scioto Foundation’s “UCAN Go to College Night” has been cancelled this year due to Covid 19 virus concerns, area college-bound students seeking information on a number of subjects related to planning, paying and preparing for college may find help through a new program called “The Virtual College Exploration.” “The Virtual College Exploration” for students and counselors is presented by the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling in partnership with StriveScan. The goal of the program is to “provide students with a wealth of college information, allow them to browse and learn about different colleges, and ask questions of admissions counselors, all in a safe, flexible, online format.” The program will consist of college knowledge sessions on topics such as finding a college that fits, choosing a major, tips for writing a college essay and more, presented by OACAC member institutions. The program will also feature information sessions from a variety of colleges and universities. It is free to students and counselors; student registration begins on August 24 by visiting https://oacac.org/student-registration/ . The “webinars” will begin at the week of September 13 and will go on through November. They will be available for on-demand viewing. Questions about the program may be directed to Ginnie Moore, Grants and Scholarships Coordinator for the Scioto Foundation at (740) 354-4612 or ginnie@thesciotofoundation.org. Information on a number of other subjects for prospective college students may be obtained by contacting the Scioto Foundation UCAN College Advisor Christy Wilcox at her email address Christy@thesciotofoundation.org . She can provide information on career exploration, college selection and application, FASFA importance and completion, the scholarship application process, SAT/ACT/(ASVAB) and military testing and other topics.

Green Local will do an annually required evacuation drill tomorrow morning (Monday, September 30) at approximately 9:35 AM. This will be in partnership with the Green Township Volunteer Fire Department and Scioto County Sheriff’s Department. Students and Staff will relocate/walk to our immediate off-site locations. For safety purposes, traffic will be blocked at all applicable intersections while students are walking (approximately 10-15 minutes each direction). This is the scenario we will PRACTICE: 1. Major gas leak that requires evacuation from the campus 2. Reunification at the offsite locations; (“reunification” refers to our procedures for safely and efficiently dismissing students to their families from a site away from the school). Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated during this safety drill. Christi Gaffney and I (Jodi Armstrong) will update families throughout the drill via our App, Facebook, and Remind/Text. If you have time, we would appreciate you sharing this information. That will help prepare and calm community members who do not receive school updates when they see first responders on-site tomorrow. Thank you!
