Dear Bobcats,
First and foremost, thank you for following our social distancing and face covering protocols. Your efforts help make our buildings some of the safest places to be. As of the time of this posting, we have zero Covid-positive cases as a result of a school contact. Please remain vigilant and consistent in order to keep that amazing streak going strong!
Next, I feel the need to address the return to school after Thanksgiving Break. As stated before, our schools are some of the safest places for our students to be, but there are growing concerns about returning after holidays, family events, travel, etc. So, here's the plan.
We will continue to operate on the hybrid schedule; however, if families are not comfortable sending their children for the two weeks after Thanksgiving (2 weeks is a typical quarantine period), they can opt to go remote and return the week before Christmas Break. They will simply need to login each day to be counted present. This is similar to the high school's current mode of operations, but it would allow a little more flexibility. If Scioto County’s health risk level goes to “Purple,” we will now follow this same plan.
I don't have all the answers. None of us do.
I can't predict the future. None of us can.
What we can do is try our best to respond to the concerns that are out there, trust in the protocols that are keeping each of us and our students safe, and support one another along the way.
TIMELINE SUMMARY
November 30-December 11...We will remain on the same hybrid schedule (no change); however, parents may choose to remain remote for the two week period after Thanksgiving. If you make this choice, students must sign-in daily.
December 14-18...All students who are not 100% remote return to their hybrid schedule this week. December 18th is the end of the 2nd grading period. This will help ensure students finish their required work before break.
December 21-January 1...Christmas Break
January 4-January 15...We are currently scheduled to be completely remote during this time. We will continue to follow local data and the Scioto County risk level as we approach this time span.
